Are You A Good Self Marketer Or A Good Worker?

If anyone were to take a look at the newspaper or job classified websites or anywhere that states they are hiring people, do browse through the conditions stated within as well; they have stated clearly the request for certain ability, capability, skills, knowledge and techniques that is required for the position.

self-marketer.gifAfter reading through the post on “What are you hiring for?” it has brought to attention that, people are no longer selecting the best candidate for certain job position. In fact, it is more of how the interviewees’ self marketing skill. The world now has become as of that how well you can impressed your interviewers, how well you can market yourself to them is able to overrule the dozen of requests they have stated in the classified.

We are always trying to hire someone who presents well, communicates well, creates documents perfectly, good at seeking out interesting new opportunities, can think on her feet in an interview and can network with strangers in search of a goal, this is of course the standard that employers would like to set.

Now, that comes down to the point, as an employer of how much you are willing to pay forth or give the benefits, opportunities would you return for such a great employee? And as an employee, how much are you willing to contribute to the job position, and how well can the task of the position done and completed?

It is unavoidable that as humans, we sometimes are blinded by the impressions that people leave, and made our decisions based on which, and we are good at jumping to conclusion. As great self marketers, people presented the way that And that is practically why people have been making themselves very best at the 7 seconds of first impression, the way they speak, and the way they present the ideas. Because basically we usually tend to jump to conclusion in the first 7 seconds unknowingly.

It is still a pretty tough decision to make within a few meetings, a few conversation, to pick a best candidate for the job position. Hiring process is no longer to get the person suitable for the job, but the person who presented himself or herself well enough. Don’t you suppose that there should be a better hiring assessment process to get the right person for the right position?

Unlimited Power 2007 Singapore Aftermath

Unlimited Power 2007 Singapore ended successfully, it is definitely a great event for the day. I went for it and there is a quite a lot of people from international wide, Japan, Taiwan, China, etc. I suppose most people came to see Anthony Robbins, cause they were shouting for Anthony Robbins during the introduction.

The 3 main speakers are Anthony Robbins, Stephen Pierce and Allan Pease, with a bonus speaker Clement Chiang.

Allan Pease

The first speaker for the event, Allan Pease did a nice job in warming up the tons of people, since it is an early event that started off at 9.00am. The way Allan spoke was very much sincere and interesting, about the difference between the minds of women and men. That cause them to react differently to the same scenario. As a body language and communication expert, Allan was excellent in the way that he presented the ideas, friendly, interesting, yet deep down inside is the hardcore truth about men and women.

Seth Godin - Ideas that Spread, Win

I took a break to watch this video where Seth Godin presented the fact that ideas that spread will simply win. Have you ever put your products on advertisement and stuff, mass publicize your products to the public? And now, are you continuing to do so? The rules of the game have changed, so in order to stay in the game and win, you need to change too.

This video that presented the “ideas that spread, win” comes from “All Marketers Are Liars” by Seth Godin, of course. I truly admire Seth for breaking the hardcore marketing rules and exposing the clear ideas of marketing to businesses. And this will make you think deeper.

Here’s the video for you by Seth Godin on the idea of “Ideas that Spread, Win“:

Is Your Powerpoint Presentation “Too Much”?

Recently I read on this article about “How to Make a Powerpoint Presentation Chart, and came to realize that we have been concentrating too much on giving information during our presentations, but fail to realize that most of which are irrelevant and unnecessary data.

It seems pretty much like driving around the whole neighborhood for an hour, when you can get back to home with a 10 minutes walk, or probably having a 30 pages report which in actual fact can be bring down to a 5 pages simple to understand report. And it totals up to get to a point that, we are giving too much redundant information.

Business presentations are only for a simple reason of proposing your solutions to address a problem or an issue that the client, or department or whoever being presented, to require to know about. A failure to present specific points and relevant points, and conveying the message of the proposed solutions, is in fact a presentation failure.

5 Tips For Stress Management

stress-free.gifStress is an invisible poison to the mind. It is colorless; it is odorless. But it can greatly impact our lives and cause a disruption in work.

Look at how the dynamic society is advancing in today’s world and you will realize that people working and chasing after it are getting a lot of stress, which tends to be unavoidable. As fast as the technology goes, we can no longer be like the yesterdays where off from work will simply means concentrating your time and effort on other personal stuffs.

Where is the root of stress?

Now, it seems to be people are working, round the clock and regardless of having to be at workplace or at home. And what this is going to bring about is stress, and not having enough rest and time on relaxation, is going to enclose people in the negative thinking box of “work = money“. They work only for their bread and butter, and nothing else. The more they think of it in such a manner, the more they get trapped in the negative thinking box, and indirectly the more they are not going to be productivity and efficienct in their life and work.

How to break out of the negative box, and be productivity, and efficient?

Successful People And Successful Mindset Are Never Defeated

Defeat is often a taboo to successful people, most of the time they would rather think in the way that they are getting a set of results that is different from their desire, instead of having to admit that it is a defeat.

Never talk defeat. Use words like hope, belief, faith, victory. – Norman Vincent Peale, 1898-1993, American Preacher and Author of “The Power of Positive Thinking”

power-of-freedom.gif

When we talk about defeat, we are putting ourselves at a point of despair, as well as a defeated position of which “I can’t do it”, or “I am unable to do it”, and very much linked to “impossibility”.
As we have talked about in the previous post, that Arthur C. Clarke had said that the only way to discover the limits of possible is to go beyond them into the impossible.

If we were to admit defeat and talk about defeat before getting into and beyond the impossible, how would we ever be successful?
